Selling in Israel via Shopify — what to know

Shopify is an excellent global system, but there are a few points unique to an Israeli business. All of them are solvable — it's just good to know in advance.

Card processing

  • Shopify Payments (the built-in processing) is not available in Israel. So you connect an Israeli payment gateway to Shopify's checkout — for example Grow (Meshulam), PayPlus, Cardcom, Tranzila.
  • Shopify charges a small extra transaction fee when you don't use the built-in processing (a percentage that decreases on higher plans) — on top of the Israeli gateway's fee.

VAT

  • You can configure Shopify (Settings → Taxes) to collect 18% VAT and show prices including VAT.

Tax invoice

  • Shopify does not issue an Israeli tax invoice natively. You connect an invoicing app (for example Green Invoice / morning, iCount, EZcount, Invoice4U) that issues a tax invoice automatically for every order.

Hebrew and RTL

  • Shopify's checkout supports Hebrew and displays right-to-left. The storefront (on our side) is fully in Hebrew and in the site's design.
