How do notification preferences work?

Notification preferences

Notification preferences decide which optional updates reach you by email and which appear inside the system. Use them to reduce noise without losing messages that protect access, security, billing, or another essential service.

First step: open Notification preferences (/admin/notifications/preferences), review each group—business activity, marketing, and account or service messages—and change only the channels you want. Save, then reopen the page to confirm the stored values.

When an optional category is off, new messages in that category are suppressed for that channel. Essential service messages may still be sent when they are required to complete or protect a service you requested. An empty or failed read never means “send everything”; the system should skip optional delivery and show a retry path.

You can simply ask Up

Up answers using this guide, suggests the next step, and leads to the relevant screen.
